Alaçatı is a small cosy town on Turkey’s Çeşme Peninsula, on the Aegean coastline covered in olive trees.

Alaçatı town was an Ionian town called “Agrilia” in the ancient times, meaning “old & wild olive tree”.  Alaçatı in the Aegean region is renowned for its olive and olive oil production since ancient times. The region’s fertile soil, ideal climate, and centuries old olive groves contribute to the high-quality olives and olive oil produced there.

Alatia, our brand name, is the ancient name of Alaçatı. The name of the town was at first formulated in “Alas” which meant “salt” at that time and then it was converted in “Alatia” meaning “salts” at that time. So, this cosy Aegean town’s name became Alaçatı today and to reflect the essence of our brand and the experience we aim to deliver to our customers, we chose Alatia, ancient name of this authentic Aegean town.

The historical stone windmills located on top of the hill overlooking the town are the town’s symbol. They date back to the 1850s and are among the oldest structures in the area. These traditional windmills, some of which are still operational, add a touch of charm to the village and provide a glimpse into its agricultural heritage. Alaçatı is famed for its authentic architecture, wind & windmills, crystal-clear waters, and natural beauty.

The historical windmill icon of the town on our logo resonates deeply with our Aegean heritage representing not only the geographical region where our olives are grown but also the cultural heritage and time-honored traditions that shape our approach to olive oil production. The windmills symbolize the harmonious relationship between Alaçatı and its constant wind and natural surroundings. They represent the town’s commitment to sustainable practices and preservation of its cultural heritage. By utilizing the abundant wind resources, Alaçatı showcases its respect for the environment and its ability to blend tradition with modern-day sensibilities. Exploring the windmill surrounded olive groves and landscapes offer a glimpse into the past, allowing you to appreciate the ingenuity of those who harnessed the power of the wind to support their livelihoods.
